In Campbellsville, Kentucky a high number of migrant workers took a job at a distribution center. They arrived in RVs and Winnebagos in search for money and a job. Retireers and unemployed workers are given $10 per hour to fill orders at the Amazon.com warehouse. They are also given a free place to park and plug in their vehicles. However the work ends on Christmas Eve. The migrant workers pack up and leave after that.

Dick Costolo was interviewed in the Telegraph UK where he discussed what his role as the newly appointed Twitter CEO is. When asked what the long term vision of Twitter is, Costolo said “I am working on clarity around that at the moment. I am currently trying to define what Twitter’s purpose is in the long term. We will be able to be more specific on that answer in the near future.”

Virgin founder Richard Branson is launching a digital magazine made for the Apple iPad. The publication is expected to be called “Project.” This news arrives shortly after Rupert Murdoch announced that News Corp. is launching a digital newspaper for the iPad called “The Daily.” Project will have news that entertainment, travel, business, designer, and international culture news. Opera’s browser for mobile devices, Opera Mini, hit 76.3 million users last month. After their iPhone application was approved, they saw about one million downloads on the first day. About 41.6 billion pages were loaded in Opera Mini last month, generating in 616 million MB being consumed. Opera revealed these numbers in a report that monitored usage. [TechCrunch]

Groupon UK Managing Director Chris Muhr did an interview with the Telegraph UK about why companies like Yahoo! and Google is in talks with Groupon about an acquisition. Groupon UK does business as a company called MyCityDeal. Earlier this month, it was revealed that Groupon was in early talks with Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) for an acquisition. Groupon would be a good fit for local business results that is generated by search engines.

A Google Chrome extension called “Facebook Doesn’t Own My Friends” was available for download up until recently. This Chrome Extension allowed you to import your friends contact information on Facebook into Gmail and CSV files. It is unclear whether Facebook filed a complaint against the extension or if Google took it down themselves. The extension went down shortly after TechCrunch wrote an article about it. That’s too bad because I would love to have Facebook information in my Google Contacts.
