Spotify was one of the first free music services on the iPhone that has been operating around Europe for a couple of years now. It turns out that Spotify is not doing too well financially. Spotify’s revenues for 2009 was $18.1 million (£11.32 million). However the cost of sales and distribution caused the company to have a loss of $26.7 million (£16.66 million). Spotify currently had 7 million users by the end of 2009. About 250,000 of those subscribers were paid. As of September of this year, the company hit 10 million users. [Mashable]

Last month Nokia’s MeeGo chief Ari Jaaksi had resigned. It turns out that he has found a new home at HP Palm as a Senior Vice President. This has been confirmed on his LinkedIn profile. Jaaksi will oversee webOS and Palm devices. [Engadget]

Novell, Inc. (NASDAQ:NOVL) has entered a definitive merger agreement with Attachmate Corporation. Attachmate will be acquiring Novell at $6.10 per share in cash. The transaction value at that price makes it a $2.2 billion deal. Attachmate is owned by an investment group led by Francisco Partners, Golden Gate Capital, and Thoma Bravo.

Last night’s episode of Family Guy was entertaining because Brian Griffin, the animated family dog, appeared on Bill Maher to debate his book (Wish It Want It Do It) with Bill Maher, Arianna Huffington, and Dana Gould. Brian struggled to prove that his book made sense when debating on the panel. Arianna said that Brian’s book had “less substance than a ‘TV Guide.’” I thought it was creative to have the animated character mixed with the real-life show. The best part is seeing Arianna and Brian Griffin going off on each other. Check out the video below:

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has launched an update to iOS. iOS 4.2 brings multitasking, AirPlay, and other improvements to the iPad. And newer iOS devices will notice that the Find My iPhone security service is now available for free. This feature used to only be available for $99 through the MobileMe account.

This sounds like YouTube all over again. Viacom is refusing to join Google TV. This means Comedy Central, MTV, Paramount, Dreamworks, Spike, CMT, Xfire, Go Fish Pictures, and VH1 will not be appearing on Google TV. Other major networks that are blocking Google TV include ABC, NBC, and CBS. Viacom is blocking full episodes on the Logitech Revue and Sony Internet TVs too. [Engadget]

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) has launched a streaming-only plan for unlimited movies and TV shows for $7.99 per month. This price matches Hulu Plus. However Netflix bumped up the cost of its DVD/streaming plan to $9.99. Below is the full press release:
