WikiLeaks Founder Julian Assange Arrested By British Police

Wikileaks.org founder Julian Assange was arrested by British police based on an arrest warrant from Sweden. “Julian Assange (…) was arrested on a European arrest warrant by appointment at a London police station at 9:30 [a.m.] today. He is accused by the Swedish authorities of one count of unlawful coercion, two counts of sexual molestation and one count of rape, all alleged to have been committed in August 2010,” stated the Metropolitan Police Service.

The arrest was made shortly after Assange was placed on the Interpol wanted list. Assange’s warrant was drawn up after he was in Sweden for a business trip. He is due to appear at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court.

WikiLeaks.org was hit with take-downs from Amazon.com, PayPal, and DNS service provider EveryDNS.net. Wikileaks.org is no longer online but it seems like the company is trying to upload the confidential government documents somewhere.
