Mark Zuckerberg Joins “Giving Pledge” To Donate Majority Of His Wealth To Charity
Today is the day that Mark Zuckerberg will be known as a philanthropist. He has agreed to give the majority of his wealth to charity. He has signed “Giving Pledge.”
Zuckerberg is now one of 16 billionaires that has joined the pledge. There are about 50 people involved in the organization. Some of the other new names include AOL co-founder Steve Case, Carl Icahn, and junk-bond king Michael Milken. Existing pledges include Michael Bloomberg, George Lucas, and Larry Ellison.
Giving Pledge is an effort that was put together by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. “The folks that helped bring AOL to life were out to change the world,” she said. “It seems a natural thing that as they look at the role they want to play, they are giving back in big ways,” said Steve Case. Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz also signed the pledge.
