Michael “Shagg” Washington Suing Rockstar For $250 Million
Michael “Shagg” Washington is a back-up singer for the rap group Cypress Hill. Shagg is suing Take-Two Interactive Software and Rockstar Games for $250 million. He is suing them because he believes that the lead character in the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is based on his youth.
Washington filed the complaint in the Los Angeles Superior Court. He claims that he had met with game developers for two hours to answer questions “his street life including how the teen-agers in his gang rode around on bicycles.” I honestly thought that the game was inspired by the movie Boyz N The Hood and Friday. In Friday, the neighborhood bully Deebo was known for riding around on a bike too.
Apparently the developers told Washington that if they chose to use him in the game, they would notify him. But the developers did not notify him. He was shocked that the main character CJ looked just like him and now he wants 25% of the $1 billion profit that the game made. Washington was listed on the game’s credits. Do you think Washington has much of a case or do you think he is insane in the membrane [pun intended]?@amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
