Well, this is a first. In the same day I wrote about a start-up exiting beta mode, the same company announced that they have been acquired. AOL has acquired custom profile and personal analytics dashboard service About.me.

About.me will become part of the consumer applications group led by AOL’s Brad Garlinghouse. About.me was co-founded by Tony Conrad, who previously sold Sphere to AOL. About 400,000 people have signed up for About.me when it was in beta mode since this past September. About.me was also co-founded by Tim Young and Ryan Freitas. About.me raised $425,000 from AOL Ventures and True Ventures. AOL and About.me had actually signed an LOI back in November.
