Leon Walker of Rochester Hills, Michigan has been charged for unlawfully reading his wife Clara’s e-mails. The e-mails showed that Clara was having an affair with her second husband, known to be abusive. Leon forwarded the e-mails to his Clara’s first husband. Leon was Clara’s third husband.
Clara’s second husband was once arrested for beating Clara in front of her small son. Leon was worried that Clara’s son would witness domestic violence again. Clara’s first husband filed an emergency motion to get custody. If charged, then Leon would face up to 5 years in prison. Prosecutors in Oakland County are using a statute that is generally used for identity theft or stealing trade secrets. Leon had logged into Clara’s Gmail account using the password that was written in a paper notebook next to the computer. Leon said that he was doing what he had to do. “We’re talking about putting a child in danger.”
