Viacom, Inc. (NYSE:VIA.B) has sold Rock Band franchise company Harmonix for $200 million to Columbus Nova. Analysts of Viacom’s business strategy have questioned why a company known for cable networks is involved in the video game industry.
Patently Apple discovered an interesting patent filed by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) engineers. Known as “logo antenna,” this patent indicates that Apple will start placing an antenna for their iPhones, iPods, and MacBooks behind the Apple logo. Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) has announced that they are going to acquire InSite One. InSite One is a medical archiving cloud applications company. The acquisition price is undisclosed. InSite One lets medical professionals share images on the cloud in order to make diagnoses. Dell will roll InSite into their Unified Clinical Archive and DX Object Storage Platform. InSite is had about 3.6 billion medical images in their database.
The Central Intelligence Agency has created a new group that is going to focus on the impact of WikiLeaks. Called the WikiLeaks Task Force (WTF), the new department will find out how the document leaks are affecting foreign relationships and operations. Samsung announced earlier this week that their Galaxy S line of phones have hit 9.3 million unit sales. In South Korea, Samsung sold 2 million of the devices. By the end of the year, Samsung expects to have sold 10 million. [Chosun Ilbo]
