Google Announces Speak-To-Tweet Service For People In Egypt

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has announced a new service that allows people in Egypt to stay-in-touch while the Internet has been blacked out there. Now anyone can send a tweet in Egypt by simply leaving a voicemail on one of these international phone numbers: +16504194196, +390662207294, or +97316199855. T-Mobile To Sell Dell Streak 7 For $200 With Contract On February 2

KickApps, Kewego, and Kyte Get Acquired For $77.2 Million By KIT digital

KIT digital is a cloud-based video asset management company that has acquired three social networking companies for $77.2 million – KickApps (social networking), Kewego (web video project management), and Kyte (mobile video platform). Less Than 15% Of Wikipedia Contributors Are Women

As Wikipedia’s celebrates its 10 years of existence, they have hit 3.5 million English articles in over 250 languages. Thousands of people are contributing the Wikipedia’s articles, but less than 15% of that number are women. A majority of the contributors are in their mid-20s.

Error In Intel Sandy Bridge 6-Series Processors May Cost $1 Billion

The Sandy Bridge processors manufactured by Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has some flaws. Intel has halted their chipset shipments until a bug free version starts shipping out next month. “In some cases, the Serial-ATA (SATA) ports within the chipsets may degrade over time, potentially impacting the performance or functionality of SATA-linked devices such as hard disk drives and DVD-drives,” said Intel in a statement.

Apple Makes Half Of Mobile Phone Profits, Despite Only 4% Market Share

According to a report by Horace Dediu of Symbo, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has a 4.2% global mobile phone market share but they account for 51% of the industry’s total profits. Apple continues to dominate profits in the mobile phone market from the top 8 mobile phone vendors in the December quarter. Apple sold 16.24 million iPhones in the first quarter of fiscal 2011, which resulted in $10.5 billion of company revenues. Not bad considering that Apple’s profit was 32% in August 2009.
