How Much The Winklevoss Twins and Eduardo Saverin Are Worth Now
If you saw the movie The Social Network, you will know who the Winklevoss brothers and Eduardo Saverin is. Eduardo is a co-founder of Facebook that was at one point muscled out. Eduardo’s name was restored to the masthead and he was given significant equity in Facebook again.
The Winklevoss brothers and Divya Narendra came up with the idea of using the “harvard.edu” e-mail addresses for Facebook and gave it to Zuckerberg according to the movie. After the most recent investment in Facebook by DST and Goldman Sachs, Eduardo Saverin is now worth $2.5 billion.
Now here is where the Winklevoss brothers screwed up. The Winklevoss brothers almost settled for $45 million worth of Facebook stock at a time when the social network was valued at $15 billion. They pulled out of that settlement and is now demanding more.
If the Winklevoss brothers settled for $45 million worth of Facebook stock back then, it would be worth $608 million today. Now their stake in Facebook is worth $150 million. Still its nothing to complain about since the twins had suggested the idea to Zuckerberg and did not do any of the work behind building the company.@amitchowdhry or on Google+ at +AmitChowdhry
