Two men have been charged with stealing and distributing e-mail addresses associated with about 120,000 Apple iPad users. Daniel Spitler and Andrew Auernheimer (pictured above) used an “account slurper” to do a “brute force” hack attack over 5 days this past June. This way they were able to obtain data about iPad users that used AT&T’s 3G network. Some of the possible victims include celebrities, business execs, and government officials. FBI agents took Spitler and Auernheimer into custody. Both of these individuals are associated with Goatse Security, an online organization of Internet “trolls” that aim to disrupt online services. The two sent some of the stolen information to Gawker.com.
