According to a forecast by eMarketer, Twitter is expected to make roughly $150 million in revenues for 2011 and around $250 million in 2012 as the company has been rapidly growing. A majority of the revenues is expected to be from U.S. partners. Twitter made about $45 million in 2010 which is the first year that the company sold ads.

“If Twitter can grow its user base and convince marketers of its value as a go-to secondary player to Facebook, it will succeed in gaining revenue,” stated eMarketer principal analyst Debra Aho Williamson. “In 2011 it must work overtime to give its early advertisers a positive experience.” Even though Twitter is expected to make less money than Facebook next year, they will probably make more than MySpace.
