A Brooklyn man named Jose Perez, 22, went on Craigslist and put a salvaged vehicle up for sale. The car was a 2004 Nissan Maxima and he used the title from another vehicle to forge the title for the Maxima. Perez also used a different name on the title and bill of sale.

Perez wrote that he wanted to sell the car for $7,500 but a buyer was able to haggle it down to $6,000. Perez and the buyer met at a mechanic shop. However one hour later, the buyer called Perez and told him that he was sold a bad car and he wanted a refund. Perez refused to give a refund and stole the vehicle outside of the buyer’s home.

The Maxima was found in Brooklyn and it was being driven by someone else. Police arrested Perez on Sunday night. Perez is being charged with second-degree forgery, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle and false advertising. This one is going in the Hall of Shame.
