ZTE Becomes Number 4 Phone Maker, Knocks RIM Out Of Top 5

Chinese consumer electronics company ZTE has beaten Apple as the number 4 cell phone manufacturing company. This knocks RIM out of the top 5 for the quarter. Market analysis company IDC issued data about phone manufacturing companies and ZTE’s growth was one of the most shocking. ZTE grew 76.8% year over year. ZTE had shipped 16.8 million mobile phones in the fourt quarter. During the same quarter a year earlier, they shipped 9.5 million mobile phones. Apple beat RIM in the third quarter of 2010.
