Apple Makes Half Of Mobile Phone Profits, Despite Only 4% Market Share

According to a report by Horace Dediu of Symbo, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has a 4.2% global mobile phone market share but they account for 51% of the industry’s total profits. Apple continues to dominate profits in the mobile phone market from the top 8 mobile phone vendors in the December quarter. Apple sold 16.24 million iPhones in the first quarter of fiscal 2011, which resulted in $10.5 billion of company revenues. Not bad considering that Apple’s profit was 32% in August 2009.
