HarperCollins Reports 25% Of Young-Adult Book Sales In January Were E-Books

The New York Times is reporting a positive story about e-book sales. HarperCollins reported that 25% of all young-adult book sale were e-books. This is up from 6% a year earlier.

Eleven year old Eliana Litos received an e-reader as a Hanukkah gift. “Some weeks I completely forgot about TV,” said Litos in an interview with the NYT. “I went two weeks with only watching one show, or no shows at all. I was just reading every day.”

Since e-readers have gotten cheaper, they are reaching the mass market and the kids are loving it. Some of the children e-books that have seen a spike in sales include “Pretty Little Liars” by Sara Shepard, “Before I Fall” by Lauren Oliver, and “I Am Number Four” by Pittacus Lore.
