Ze Frank Raises $500,000 To Launch Social Gaming Company Star.me

Ze Frank is known as being for being an online performer and has launched a daily video program called The Show With Zefrank. Now Ze Frank is working on building social games through a social network called Star.me. Ze Frank raised $500,000 from Andreesen Horowitz, Betaworks, Founder Collective, Lerer Ventures, and Ron Conway. Star.me is in invite-only beta as of right now.

Ze Frank said that Star.me is “a twist on the manifestation of identity as reflected through others.” Star.me focuses on exchanging virtual goods. Stars can be displayed on profiles. Frank said that his biggest competitor is Zynga.

Each Star has a theme and a message such as “UR CRAZY,” “UR CUTE,” “BFF,” “Bromance,” and “Frenemy.” Your Star.me profile reveals “Stars sent” and “Stars received.” And your Star.me profile shows how many Stars were sent and received. You can also distribute the stars on your Facebook and Twitter profiles.
