Android 2.4 Arriving This April

ViewSonic has reported to Pocket-Lint that the ViewPad 2.4 smartphone will be arriving in April with Android 2.4 built in. The update will produce an operating system that would be able to work with Honeycomb apps too. The release date of version 2.4 was brought forward so that dual-core apps that were designed for Honeycomb will be able to work with single-core devices that run on Android 2.4. This is not possible with Gingerbread so the push to the next version of the operating system was expedited. According to the Pocket-Lint source, this version is unlikely going to be called “Ice Cream.” They expect Android 3.1 to be called Ice Cream. [Pocket-Lint]
