Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics are rumored to be working with each other on a massive $7.8 billion manufacturing contract. Apple would pay Samsung to manufacturing liquid-crystal display panels for the next iPad, mobile application processors, and NAND flash memory chips. During Apple’s earnings announcement last month Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer mentioned that they are signing a $3.9 billion contract for product components. This is half of what the rumor is, but Apple may have extended the contract between now and last month’s call. This contract would mean Apple would be one of Samsung’s biggest customers and competitors at the same time. [AllThingsD]
