After Microsoft and Nokia announced their strategic partnership, nine young shareholders in Nokia decided that they would protest the deal in May. The protest was coined “Plan B.” The nine shareholders published a letter about the protest, but updated it recently because they decided not to go through with it. Why did they give up? Nokia’s institutional investors and developers aren’t allowed to support activities such as “Plan B.” The institutional investors can protest by selling shares in the company but they cannot protest changes. Plan B was brought up and retracted in less than 36 hours. [TNW]
