Wikileaks has hired Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz as an adviser about how to handle the Justice Department’s subpoena to retrieve personal information from Twitter. The Justice Department is aiming to collect private communication between Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and Wikileaks volunteers over the leaked cables case. This is interesting because at one point, Dershowitz agreed with Hilary Clinton that Wikileaks was a danger to the U.S. and international diplomacy. [TwitLonger]

It has been rumored since December that Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ:RIMM) would be acquiring professional contact management company Gist.com. Now it is official: RIM is acquiring Gist. Gist raised $10.8 million in funding and launched in 2008.

Apple and Samsung Working On $7.8 Billion Display Deal

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics are rumored to be working with each other on a massive $7.8 billion manufacturing contract. Apple would pay Samsung to manufacturing liquid-crystal display panels for the next iPad, mobile application processors, and NAND flash memory chips. During Apple’s earnings announcement last month Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer mentioned that they are signing a $3.9 billion contract for product components. This is half of what the rumor is, but Apple may have extended the contract between now and last month’s call. This contract would mean Apple would be one of Samsung’s biggest customers and competitors at the same time. [AllThingsD]

Intel Capital Invests $26 Million In Borqs, Cloudmade, InVisage, Kaltura, SecureKey, and VisionOSS

Intel Capital has invested $26 million into six companies. The companies include:
1. Borqs: A location based mapping platform company that develops and promotes mobile operating systems. They are also active members in the Google/Open Handset Alliance as well as the Symbian Foundation.
2. Cloudmade: Cloudmade allows people to create applications with map tiles, turn-by-turn navigation, and in-app advertising. About 16,000 developers use CloudMade to create applications.
3. Kaltura: Kaltura is an open source online video platform that is used by about 100,000 people and businesses. Intel is investing with participation from Nexus Venture Partners, .406 Ventures, Avalon Ventures, and Silicon Valley Bank.
4. InVisage Technologies: InVisage is a company that develops commercial mobile technology materials for image sensors. The material captures light which allows handheld devices to take high-resolution images.
5. SecureKey Technologies: SecureKey is a company designs hardware and software encrypting debit, credit, and identity card data specifically for Near Field Communication phones.
6. VisionOSS Solutions: VisionOSS makes communications and collaboration software IP-PBX and UC&C architectures.

Facebook Given $52 Billion Valuation With Kleiner Perkins Funding

Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers has invested in Facebook at a $52 billion valuation. Kleiner bought $38 million worth of stock from shareholders at the $52 billion valuation. This is slightly higher than the $50 billion valuation that Goldman Sachs placed on the company. Kleiner Perkins made billions of dollars through early investments in Amazon.com, Google, and Netscape. Kleiner Perkins recently invested in Groupon, Twitter, and Zynga. [WSJ]

Uber is a company that was founded by StumbleUpon founder Garrett Camp. The company has raised $11 million in a round of funding that gives them a $49 million pre-money and $60 million post-money valuation. Benchmark Capital led the round and Sequoia Capital partner Alfred Lin participated as an individual. Benchmark partner Bill Gurley will be joining the board of directors.

UberMedia Raises $17.5 Million, Acquires TweetDeck For $30 Million

UberMedia has raised $17.5 million in a round of funding led by Accel Partners with participation from Index Ventures and Revolution Ventures. This puts UberMedia’s valuation at about $40 million. Index Ventures. Over the weekend, Ubermedia also acquired TweetDeck for $30 million in cash and equity. UberMedia head Bill Gross and TweetDeck founder Iain Dodsworth are focused on building businesses within the Twitter ecosystem. Jim Breyer of Accel will be joining the UberMedia board of directors. Gemalto Creates First Facebook SIM Card

Gemalto has created the first SIM card to have Facebook functions built in. Gemalto worked closely with Facebook for developing the SIM product and that means that the social network will be able to work with bare-boned handsets. Below is a note from a Facebook spokesperson:
