Disney Acquires RocketPack and Togetherville

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) has acquired a couple of web companies. They acquired a social network for kids called Togetherville and an HTML5 gaming engine company called RocketPack.

Rocket Engine is an HTML5 platform made by professional game developer RocketPack. The acquisition price is rumored to be worth around $10-$20 million. Clearly Disney has an interest in developing games that are accessible without the need for downloading. Devices made by Apple can access HTML5 games on the web without the need to download anything.

Disney had also acquired Togetherville, a social networking website intended for 6-10 year olds. Togetherville was founded by Mandeep Singh Dhillon.
