Aflac Fires Gilbert Gottfried After He Published Insensitive Japan Tsunami Tweets


The insurance company Aflac has fired actor Gilbert Gottfried as the voice of their duck mascot. Gottfried wrote a couple of offensive tweets in regards to the tsunami that hit Japan this past week. Aflac released a statement about the matter: “Gilbert’s recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac … Aflac will immediately set plans in motion to conduct a nationwide casting call to find a new voice of the iconic Aflac Duck.” Below are the tweets that Gottfried wrote:

    I didn't even put him as the Aflac Duck – but he went too far and should have to suffer the consequences!
