Australian Girl Cancels Sweet 16 Party After 200,000 People Confirm On Facebook
A teenager in Australia will not be having a Sweet 16 party at her house like she was planning. Apparently her Facebook invitation went out of control. About 200,000 joined and confirmed as “attending” within 24 hours. The girl, known as “Jess,” informed the police about the party. The Daily Telegraph suspects that the hacker group Anonymous was behind the RSVPs.
Jess intended to invite students in her class and told them that they could bring friends as long as it doesn’t get out of hand. The RSVP went viral and her address was even listed on the invite. Jess sent a message cancelling the party. Police inspector Terry Dalton said that if anyone shows up during the planned party time, they will be asked to leave.
