Google Accuses Chinese Government Of Interfering With Gmail

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is accusing the Chinese government of interfering with Gmail. The Chinese government is cracking down on the “jasmine revolution,” a codename for for cracking down on a movement inspired by the events in the Middle East.

Chinese customers and advertisers have been complaining that Gmail is having a lot of errors when attempting to send messages or mark them as unread. Google also set up an application to help people find relatives and friends that were lost in the Japanese earthquake, which does not work there.

“Relating to Google there is no issue on our side. We have checked extensively. This is a government blockage carefully designed to look like the problem is with Gmail,” stated a Google spokesman. At least 20 other Internet, financial, and media companies have been affected by the Chinese government attacks.
