OutCast Agency co-founder Caryn Marooney is joining Facebook to head up their tech public relations strategy. She will be the director of technology communications at Facebook.
She will be in charge of reaching out to the technical community, which includes “our product, platform, infrastructure, and technical recruiting communications–to reach developers, engineers, technology influencers and bloggers who write about our products and technology strategy,” said Facebook in a statement.
“Caryn’s experience extends beyond technology communications and I’m delighted that we’ll all have the opportunity to draw on her wisdom and insight,” stated Facebook global communications head Elliot Schrage.
Facebook was an OutCast client that Marooney managed. She and Margit Wennmachers built and sold OutCast to Next Fifteen Communications Group in 2005 for over $10 million. Wennmachers now works for Andreessen Horowitz on their marketing strategies team.
