Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) is going the viral video route by setting up a spokespuppet to speak on behalf of the 2012 Ford Focus named Doug. Doug will appear only on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook.
Paul Feig, Rob Cohen, John Ross Bowie, and Paul F. Tompkins is some of the Hollywood talent behind Doug the sock puppet. Scott Monty, Ford’s global digital and multimedia communications manager, tweeted a video of Doug preventing a robbery. That video hit 350,000 views on YouTube. A few videos will be added every week over the next several months as part of an advertising campaign.
