Professional social network LinkedIn has surpassed 100 million users. This is excellent news for the company as they have filed for an S-1 with the SEC for the intention of having an initial public offering.

LinkedIn launched in 2003 and is available across 200 countries. In the U.S., there are 44 million LinkedIn users. About 17.8 million of LinkedIn users are a part of the Groups. About 1.2 million posts are added to Groups per week. There are 1.3 billion connections between LinkedIn’s members and there are over 79 million job changes tracked on the network.

However LinkedIn admits that 100 million registered users are higher than the number of actual members. And a substantial majority of LinkedIn’s page views are generated by a minority number of users.
