The Nielsen Company is accusing comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCOR) of infringing on five patents that relates to measuring and displaying online content. The lawsuit was filed in a Virginia federal court. In the lawsuit filing, Nielsen lists 30 different comScore products that violates their patent rights.

Three of the five patents in the lawsuit belong to Nielsen and the the other two of them were owned by Jupiter Media. Nielsen settled with Jupiter by paying $15 million and acquired the patents in the process.

“While we support vigorous competition in the marketplace, that competition must be fair and respect intellectual property rights. Nielsen does not take such matters lightly and only after thorough analysis and consideration did we file this action,” stated a Nielsen spokeswoman.
