Verizon Wireless CEO Daniel Mead said that he would not oppose AT&T’s plan to acquire T-Mobile USA for $39 billion. He also said that Verizon Wireless does not have any interest in buying Sprint Nextel Corporation. “We’re not interested in Sprint. We don’t need them,” stated Mead at the CTIA Wireless Conference. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is suing Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) for the “App Store” trademark. Apple filed a complaint on March 18 in a northern California federal court. Apple claims unfair competition and trademark infringement along with unspecified damages. They also asked for a judge’s order to prevent Amazon.com from using the “App Store” name.

id Software is an American video game company that is based in Texas. The company was founded in 1991 by four former employees at computer company Softdisk. John Carmack, John Romero, Tom Hall, and Adrian Carmack founded id Software in 1991. ZeniMax Media acquired id Software in June 2009. The company’s history is now available as a YouTube documentary. NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:NETL) is acquiring fabless semiconductor provider Optichron for $77 million in initial cash. Optichron developed advanced processors that supports wider signal bandwidth and spectrum maximization. NetLogic will make milestone payments of up to an additional $108.5 million in cash to Optichron shareholders by March 2013 and an additional $12.5 million in stock to Optichron employees. NetLogicl will also assume around $22 million of restricted stock units for Optichron employees who will join NetLogic after the deal closes. [Reuters]

If AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is unable to buy T-Mobile USA for $39 billion due to regulatory concerns, then there will be another way that AT&T loses. AT&T will have to pay $3 billion, provide promised valuable spectrum, and a roaming agreement to T-Mobile. “In the event the transaction does not receive regulatory approval satisfactory to AT&T and the transaction does not close, AT&T will be required to pay a breakup fee of $3 (billion), transfer to T-Mobile certain AWS spectrum that is not needed by AT&T for its initial LTE roll out, and provide a roaming agreement to T-Mobile on terms favorable to both parties,” stated AT&T.
