AT&T To Acquire T-Mobile USA For $39 Billion

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced plans to acquire T-Mobile USA for $39 billion in cash and stock from Deutsche Telekom. AT&T’s acquisition of T-Mobile would make them the largest carrier by a substantial amount.

Stephen Elop: “We’re Right Now, Today, Having People Work On The First Windows Phone Devices From Nokia.”

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) CEO Stephen Elop has revealed some interesting information through an interview with Reuters. “We’re right now, today, having people work on the first Windows Phone devices from Nokia. That work is already under way. If this was an acquisition scenario, that wouldn’t be possible,” stated Elop.

AT&T Blocking Unauthorized Tethering iPhones

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has been sending out e-mails that says “records show that you use [tethering] but are not subscribed to our tethering plan.” There are several jailbreaking applications that allows the iPhone to use unauthorized tethering such as MyWi. MyWi bypasses the plan check on AT&T phones and creates a wireless hotspot on teh iPhone. This allows other devices to connect to the Internet through the iPhone like netbooks and laptops.

Zynga Acquires Indie Game Development Company Floodgate Entertainment

Social gaming company Zynga has acquired Floodgate Entertainment, an indie gaming company based in Waltham, Massachusetts. This is Zynga’s 10th acquisition in 10 months. Zynga reportedly earned $850 million in 2010 revenues. Floodgate founder Paul Neurath will be the creative director of Zynga’s Boston team. [VentureBeat]
Rovio Looking Into An IPO

Talouselämä is a business magazine in Finland that published information about Angry Birds game development company Rovio. Rovio is planning to go public in New York according to the article. Rovio Chairman Kaj Hed said that the company’s $42 million in funding was a direction that step. Hed is the father of Rovio CEO Mikael Hed.

Adobe Flash 10.2 Beta Now Available For Android

Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE) has announced that Adobe Flash 10.2 will be available on Android devices running on Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb. Adobe 10.2 has increased performance from the previous version. The beta release of Adobe 10.2 does not utilize full hardware acceleration as that feature has been turned off. Hardware rending and compositing will be added in a later release. That release “will bring 720p playback to a really smooth, enjoyable level.” [Engadget]
IBM Paying $10 Million To Settle Bribery Charges

International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) has agreed to pay $10 million to settle with the U.S. SEC. Apparently IBM bribed officials in China and South Korea for computer contracts according to a source with BusinessWeek.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was given 24 iOS Design Patents that relates to various icons that includes utilities. The patent includes Apple icons like the calculator, iBooks, Numbers, World Clock, Mail, FaceTime, Camera, Rentina display, Messages, iTunes Store, and iMovie. [Patently Apple]
Yahoo! To Sell Delicious For Under $2 Million [RUMOR]

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) is considering selling Delicious for between $1-$2 million according to a BusinessInsider source. It is uncertain which company is buying Delicious, but the source knows it is a “strategic partner.” Some potential partners may include Digg or StumbleUpon. The reason why it is taking a while to spin off Delicious is because the bookmarking website depends entirely on Yahoo!’s technology. Delicious currently does not have a revenue model, but it has a very loyal community.
