Kodak’s Lawsuit Against RIM and Apple

Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE:EK) filed a patent lawsuit against Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Research In Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM). Kodak CEO Antonio Perez said that his company “deserves to win” and could even add over $1 billion in revenue from royalty payments.

iPhone 4 Survives 1,000 Foot Drop

The Apple iPhone 4 may have had antenna issues, but it can survive a 1,000 foot drop. U.S. Air Force Combat Controller Ron Walker owns an iPhone 4 was leaning out of an airplane to look at landmarks. His iPhone 4 fell out of his pocket and hit the ground while traveling at 150MPH with an altitude of 1,000 feet. Shortly after, he landed his plane and used the “Find My iPhone” app to find out where his phone was at. The iPhone 4 was still in perfect condition. [BGR]

Adap.tv Raises $20 Million

Adap.tv has raised $20 million in funding from Bessemer Venture Partners, Gemini Israel Funds, Redpoint Ventures, and Spark Capital. Adap.tv has raised a total of $43 million thus far. Adap.tv’s platform lets advertising companies manage their online video ads. Publishers use Adap.tv to monetize their websites with the video content. Adap.tv currently sees about 60 million unique visitors and they deliver about 1.8 billion video ad views per month. [TechCrunch]
Sprint Declares Opposition Against AT&T’s Acquisition Of T-Mobile

Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) has sent out a press release today explaining their opinion on AT&T’s $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile. Sprint said that the transaction still requires approval from the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission.

eBay Acquiring GSI Commerce For $2.4 Billion

eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) is planning to acquire GSI Commerce for $2.4 billion. eBay is buying the e-commerce marketing services company for $29.25 per share. eBay is spending more on GSI than what they spent on PayPal and slightly less than Skype.

NYT Kindle Subscribers Will Not Have To Pay Extra For Access To Website

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has announced that The New York Times Company (NYSE:NYT) subscribers on the Kindle will be able to read news articles for no additional charge free. The New York Times recently said that they are limiting the number of articles to 20 per month before the user is required to pay. The Kindle subscription cost for the NYT is $19.99 per month. Google Hires James Gosling For Undecided Position

James Gosling is known for founding Java while working at Sun Microsystems. After Oracle bought out Sun, Gosling decided not to quit. It turns out that Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has hired Gosling for an undecided position.

Cheezburger Networks Acquires Know Your Meme

Cheezburger Networks, the parent company of I Can Has Cheezburger, Fail Blog, and The Daily What has acquired a company called Know Your Meme. Know Your Meme is a web video series that spun out of a company called Rocketboom. Know Your Meme receives millions of views in its weekly episodes. This past January, Cheezburger Networks raised $30 million in funding from the Foundry Group, Avalon Ventures, SoftBank Capital, and Madrona Venture Group. [Tubefilter]
Apple To Announce Future Of iOS and Mac OS At WWDC

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) sent out a press release that discusses what they plan to announce at the annual WWDC event. It is unlikely that Apple will release a new iPhone in June as the press release indicates that there will be a focus on the changes in iOS and the Mac OS.

Amazon Web Services Now Offers Customers Dedicated Hardware

Amazon, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services customers now have the option to run cloud applications on their own dedicated hardware. While Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud uses virtualization, some customers may prefer dedicated hardware due to regulatory or other restrictions. The Dedicated Instances will be a part of Amazon’s Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) service.
