Google has launched a new service called Google for Nonprofits. The program allows non-profit organizations discounts for Google Apps subscriptions. If approved, the non-profit can receive up to $10,000 a month in AdWords ads for free. They will also receive free or discounted Google Apps use. [CNET]

The Ethisphere Institute has made a list of the 110 most ethical companies. Microsoft Corporation (NADSAQ:MSFT) was on the list, but Google, Apple, and Facebook wasn’t. Over 3,000 companies applied to be in the Ethisphere’s list. Any company that was involved in significant legal issues in the last 5 years automatically removes them from qualifying. It is likely that the EU’s investigation in Google prevented them from being on the list. Other tech companies in the list includes Cisco, Salesforce.com, eBay, Zappos, Adobe, and Symantec. The Samsung Series 9 laptop is available as of today. The 13-inch series 9 weighs under 3 pounds and it is 0.64 inches thick, making it similar to a MacBook Air. The Series 9 costs $1,649 with Windows 7 Home Premium or $1,699 with Windows 7 Professional. The Series 9 also has a 128GB solid state drive. According to a rumor, Asus is planning on launching a $200 netbook that runs on the Google Chrome operating system. The netbook would most likely be a 10″ or 11″ with a possible subsidy 3G contract. [CrunchGear]

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Internet Explorer 9 has been downloaded 2.35 million times in the first 24 hours of release. That is over 27 downloads per second (240 downloads every 9 seconds). This is over double the 1 million downloads that IE9 Beta saw. [Windows Team Blog]

According to a study by Blaze Software, Android phones load websites faster than the iPhone. The iPhone’s media load time is 3.2 seconds and the load of time of webpages on the Nexus S is 2.1 seconds. Blaze did 45,000 tests and the Android won 84% of the time. Most of the tests were done over WiFi and some were done with the 3G connection.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs has sent a thoughtful e-mail to employees in Japan. In the e-mail, Jobs said that the company would like to provide resources for were severely impacted by the earthquake and tsunami. Below is the full e-mail:

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has poached Mike Schiraldi, an admin and engineering, from Reddit. Reddit receives a lot of traffic and has a small team of engineers so this is a big deal for them.
