Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is searching for a Federal Policy Outreach Manager. The outreach manager would handle the company’s public policy team’s outreach to think tanks, advocacy groups, and industry trade groups. The Nielsen Company is accusing comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCOR) of infringing on five patents that relates to measuring and displaying online content. The lawsuit was filed in a Virginia federal court. In the lawsuit filing, Nielsen lists 30 different comScore products that violates their patent rights.
Chrysler has stopped a dealership in Monroe, Michigan from selling “Imported from Toledo” T-shirts. Chrysler recently stopped a company called Pure Detroit from selling an “Imported from Detroit” T-shirt over trademark infringement. The Monroe Dodge Superstore in Monroe, Michigan is down the road from Toledo, Ohio. The dealership in Monroe wanted to find a way to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Jeep. The first Willys-Overland Jeep was built in 1941 at the company’s plant in Toledo, Ohio. The proceeds from the t-shirt sales were going to go to local charities too. “We appreciate the enthusiasm and support of our dealers, but we do not want to dilute the Chrysler Brand’s ‘Imported from Detroit’ tagline,” stated Chrysler spokesman Michael Palese. The Australian Federal Parliament cyber safety committee questioned the former FTC Commissioner and current advisor to Facebook Mozelle Thompson about underage kids using the social network. Thompson revealed an interesting statistic about Facebook. Facebook removes 20,000 accounts each day for age violations on the social network, including those who are 13 and under. Radio personality Howard Stern and his agent is suing Sirius XM Radio Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRI) for failing to pay stock awards to them. Stern claims to have helped Sirius XM surpass subscriber growth targets.
Shazam, the music discovery and tagging tool has updated their iOS application to support a new feature called Shazam Friends. Shazam Friends lets users share music with their Facebook friends through a News Feed feature. The News Feed will show what songs that their friends have identified and tagged in real-time. If you hear a song on the radio and want to know the name, simply open the Shazam application and click “Listen.” Shazam will then tell you the name and artist of the song along with a list of places to buy it, the lyrics, tour info, YouTube videos, Twitter/Facebook/email, and a link for ringtones. Getupp is a web and mobile application service where you can set goals and share them publicly. If you do not meet the goal, then the app tells on your to your Facebook friends. On Getupp, you select a category like gym, running, sports, go out, worship, clean home, etc. You will also need to enter the due date and notify everyone whether you succeeded or failed. Biz Stone stopped by the Conan O’Brien show to discuss the 5th anniversary of Twitter. Conan started off the interview by congratulation Stone on the 5 year anniversary. Stone pointed out that Twitter was often referred to as the “Seinfeld of the Internet” as in, it is a “website about nothing.” Stone took that as a compliment since he loves that show and it was very profitable.
