Sproxil is a startup company that helps fight counterfeit drugs. Sproxil tags pharmaceuticals in Africa with a scratch off code similar to what you see with pre-paid cell phones. If a customer sends a code in a text message to Sproxil’s product authentication service, the company will verify whether it is legal or not.
Rebecca Black is a 13 year old girl known for creating a song called “Friday.” It is being dubbed the “worst song ever,” but the video has been watched over 30 million times on YouTube. The song was uploaded by Ark Music Factory, a Los Angeles based music company hired by Black’s parents to produce the song. Some of the song’s lyrics are “yesterday was Thursday Thursday, today it is Friday Friday” and “tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards.” The song was uploaded on February 10th. SocialVibe is a Los Angeles, California based social advertising software and technology company that has raised $20 million in equity funding. This round of funding was led by Norwest Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Jafco Ventures, and Pinacle Ventures. Jeff Crowe (Norwest) will be joining the company board of directors as part of the funding. SocialVibe is led by Jay Samit and they plan on using the funding for growth. Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) has announced the HTC Evo 3D at the CTIA 2011 conference. The Evo 3D runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and it has a 3D camera. The Evo 3D has a 4.3-inch QHD display and touch screen. The Evo 3D has two 5-megapixel cameras for capture the 3D video with a flash sitting between.
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has received a patent on their logo doodles. It took about 10 years of lobbying to get the patent. Doodles are the customized version of the Google logo that the company puts on their homepage during the holidays. Above is an example of a doodle that the company used for Thanksgiving. Google co-founder Sergey Brin was credit for inventing the patent, which is entitled “System and Method For Enticing Users To A Web Site.” The first Google Doodle was for St. Patrick’s Day in 2000. The annual revenue of Dell Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) in India is getting close to $2 billion. As a result, Dell is planning to add more staff in India. “We are continuing to invest here and continuing to grow the business … India for us is a critical part of our infrastructure globally,” stated Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell. Dell was forecasting 5-9% revenue growth in fiscal 2012, which means that they are expecting $64-$67 billion. Dell has about 23,000 employees in India. [Reuters]

Brilig is an open marketplace for listing the buying or selling of audience information for online advertising targeting. The company has raised $1.8 million in funding. Webloyalty co-founder and former President Vincent D’Agostino participated in this round of funding along with several other angel investors.
