Amazon.com Drops Price Of Top-Selling MP3 Songs To $0.69


Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has declared a price war with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) by lowering the price of top selling music in a further effort to compete with iTunes. Now the average price on hit songs on Amazon are $0.69. Some of the hits songs that Amazon.com lowered the price on as of right now includes Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and Katy Perry’s “E.T.” Amazon.com has around a 10% market share and Apple has about 70% for the digital download music market according to the NPD Group. Apple is selling top selling songs for $1.29, almost double of what Amazon.com charges now. [LA Times]

Apple’s iCloud Service Rumored To Be A Total MobileMe Revamp


Yesterday I wrote about how Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) purchased the domain name iCloud for roughly $4.5 million. There are now rumors floating around that Apple plans on using this domain name to promote a service with that name. That service would allow people to store music, bookmarks, e-mail, contacts, and iCal events. This means that Apple is revamping MobileMe entirely.

Sony PlayStation Hackers Hoping To Sell Credit Card Information For $100,000


According to security researchers, the hackers that penetrated the Sony PlayStation Network has gotten their hands on credit card numbers and they want to sell them off. They have a database that contains the information on about 2.2 million people, including names, addresses, usernames, passwords, and credit card numbers.

Amazon.com Explains Cause and Apologizes For Outage


Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has apologized for an outage that took place last week on websites that run on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Reddit.com was especially affected by the outage. The problem started around 12:47AM on April 21st at the Elastic Block Store (EBS) that houses some of Amazon.com’s cloud computing servers. The problem was caused by a single Availability Zone on the East Coast and it was caused by a human error.

Verizon Droid Charge Launch Gets Delayed


Verizon Wireless has decided to delay the launch of the Samsung Droid Charge on their network. The Droid Charge was originally supposed to launch today, but they blame “unexpected delays” for the cancellation. Making matters worse, Verizon’s LTE network had a major outage today. [Engadget]

The Credit Card Information On The PlayStation Network Was Encrypted


Sony Corporation has provided an update about the PlayStation Network situation on their blog. A hacker penetrated their network between April 17 and April 19 and had obtained the personal information about a lot of users. One of the biggest questions that people had was whether their credit cards were taken. Sony provided the following response.

Apple Inc. (NASDASQ:AAPL) is rumored to be building a new service cloud-based music service. There is now some speculation that the new service will be called iCloud. The rumor is based on a tipster with GigaOM that revealed that Apple spent $4.5 million to buy the domain name iCloud.com.

eBay Revenues Grow 16% To $2.5 Billion As Fueled By PayPal


eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) has reported their first quarter financial results today. Their revenues have increased 16% to $2.5 billion compared to the same period last year. And their profits have soared by 20% to $475.9 million. eBay met the expectations of analysts for this period.
