Microsoft Windows Phone 7 VP Joe Belfiore Reports Mango Update Coming Later This Year

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Corporate Vice President of Windows Phone Program Management Joe Belfiore held a keynote speech today. He apologized for the slowness of Windows Phone 7 devices, but said that the company is rolling out some updates soon.

Copy and paste functionality has been released by the company, but carriers are still testing it. Belfiore said that Microsoft added more staff and infrastructure to their mobile division. They have also created a “Where’s my update” page.

Belfiore announced that they are releasing a new update soon called Mango. Mango will have better multitasking, a better browsing experience, integrated Twitter support, and support for 16 additional languages. The Mango update will allow developers in a number of other countries submit apps to the Windows Apps Marketplace.

Developers will have deeper access to the SQL database and camera APIs. The new update will allow Skype to come to Windows Phone 7. Belfiore also said that Angry Birds will be coming for Windows Phone 7 on May 25th.
