Dropbox Surpasses 25 Million Users

Dropbox is a file storage service that was founded in 2007 by Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowski. Dropbox was one of the earliest Y Combinator incubator companies. Dropbox has 25 million users and is seeing about 200 million files saved per day. Over 1 million files are being saved every 5 minutes. About a year ago Dropbox had 4 million users and two years ago they had 2 million in late 2009.

Dropbox allows users to save 2GB of space for free and requires payment for additional space. Dropbox has raised a total of $7.2 million from Y Combinator, Sequoia Capital, Accel Partners, Sequoia Capital, Ali Partovi, and Hadi Partovi.
