Apple iPhone 5 Expected To Have 8 Megapixel Rear Camera

Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had checked with supply chain sources to learn more details about the Apple iPhone 5. The sources revealed that the iPhone 5 will not feature a new design. IT will have only “slight modifications” of the iPhone 4. The modifications will include an 8 megapixel rear camera and Qualcomm baseband for GSM and CDMA models. Other analysts are speculating that the iPhone 5 will have NFC (near field communications) technology built in.

Kuo also heard that the iPhone 5 will have a faster A5 processor, similar to the one that is found in the iPad 2. There will also be an improved antenna design. The new iPhone is expected to go into production in August and mass production in September. This would allow Apple to hit between 28 and 32 million units.

The earthquake and tsunami constrained supplies for Apple. Due to component shortages in Asia, Apple had to push back the launch of the new device. It would also not be surprising if a fifth-generation iPod Touch in September also.

Kuo believes that the main selling point for the iPhone 5 will be the iOS 5 mobile operating system. And there will be a new design and greater hardware specifications in the sixth generation iPhone.
