Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) has made an official announcement about the status of the PlayStation Network being down. A hacker penetrated the system and the personal information of users have been exploited. Sony revealed that between April 17 and April 19, there was an unauthorized intrusion on the PlayStation Network. As a result, Sony temporarily turned off the PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. They are also working with a security firm to conduct a full investigation into what happened. They also started to enhance security to their network infrastructure by rebuilding their whole system.
The unauthorized person or persons may have gotten their hands on the name, address, country, e-mail, address, birthdate, login information, purchase history, and billing address of PlayStation Network users.
