Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) is launching a new service called Earth Builder. Earth Builder will enable companies to embed data layers on top of Google Earth and Google Maps. Google believes that this will help companies in the oil and gas sector. The data-filled maps can be distributed internally or publicly. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reported their financial results for Q2 2011 ending March 26, 2011. Apple posted a record second quarter revenue of $24.67 billion and record second quarter net profit of $5.99 billion. During the same time last year, Apple reported a revenue of $13.50 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.07 billion.

Earlier this week Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) did their Q1 FY2011 earnings calls with analysts. Yahoo! CEO Carol Bartz talked about how there were technical issues with the Microsoft adCenter platform that caused lower than expected revenues.

eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY) has acquired location-based e-commerce media company Where.com. The financial details of the acquisition are unknown, but rumor has it that it was $135 million.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced a new feature today called Kindle Library Lending. This feature allows Kindle customers to borrow books from over 11,000 libraries in the U.S. The Kindle Lending Library will be made available for all of the Kindle generations.

There is a hidden file on the Apple iPhone 4 and the iPad 3G that is storing your location information. This hidden file was discovered by computer programmers Alasdair Allan and Pete Warden. They presented the location storage files at the Where 2.0 conference in San Francisco.
