What do Rebecca Black and Lady Gaga have in common? Both of them are part of the 100+ million view club on YouTube. Rebecca Black’s hit song “Friday” has surpassed 100 million YouTube views within the last 24 hours. Black has beaten Justin Bieber’s music video “Baby” in hitting 100 million YouTube views. It took “Friday” one month and it took Bieber two month and eight days. “Black’s video exists as both a standard viral clip and a music video with some staying power, which could account for its longer tail,” stated YouTube. Ark Music Factory produced “Friday” for Black.

Instructure Raises $8 Million Series B Round of Funding

Instructure is a company that has developed an open source learning management system. Instructure has raised $8 million in Series B funding from OpenView Venture Partners, EPIC Ventures, Eric Schmidt’s venture capital company Tomorrow Ventures, and Tim Draper. Instructure raised a total of $9.2 million. Instructure’s software called Canvas includes assessment tools, discussions, web chat, multiple assignment submission types, drag-and-drop file uploads, HTML5 video, and speech-to-text conversion.

Annoying Orange is a popular YouTube video series that has just scored a TV deal. Video production company The Collective is working with Annoying Orange creator Dane Boedigheimer to create six episodes of the show. Conrad Vernon (Director of Monsters vs Aliens and Shrek 2) will be the executive producer of the show and Tom Sheppard (Writer for Pinky and the Brain) will be the writer.

Daily coupon e-mail company LivingSocial is acquiring SocialMedia.com for $3 million. LivingSocial recently raised $400 million in funding and this deal was made entirely in stock. SocialMedia.com raised $10 million in funding since they launched around September 2007.

Judge Kimberley Prochnau in the King County Superior Court has filed a preliminary injunction against Matthew Miszewski. Miszewski attempted to join Salesforce.com, but this was in violation of his non-compete agreement. Miszewki is prohibited from “working in a marketing role in salesforce.com’s public or commercial sector anywhere in the world.”
