WaveTec Vision is an Aliso Viejo, California based company that developed medical devices for treating cataracts. The company has raised $15.9 million in equity funding. WaveTec’s patented device is called ORange. ORange measures the eye during cataract surgery for producing customized results about what the results are.

ORange was made available for commercial use in 2009. About 3.2 million people in the U.S. have cataract surgery every year. And about a third of the time, the results are far enough off that the patients are required to wear glasses. This fourth round of funding was led by Versant Ventures. Accuitive Medical Ventures, De Novo Ventures, and Gund Investment Corp. also participated in this round.
