General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) started construction on their first electric motor plant at the GM Baltimore Operations Complex. The plant is expected to open in 2013. The complex will produce a two-mode hybrid and Heavy Duty transmissions. This new factory will employ about 190 people. The plant is receiving a $129 million investment from GM, $105 million from the Department of Energy, and $10.5 million from the local country and state governments. RBC Capital Markets Managing Director Mike Abramsky is reporting that Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ:RIMM) sold about 250,000 BlackBerry PlayBook tablets thus far. Abramsky and his staff is reporting these numbers based on channel checks. If these numbers are correct, then the PlayBook has outsold the Motorola Xoom.
