Bing To Highlight Links That Your Facebook Friends Like

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has a close-knit relationship with Facebook. In October 2007, Microsoft invested $240 million into Facebook for 1.6% in equity. Now Bing users will see search results that are influenced by Facebook friends. If you find a website on Bing that your Facebook friends like, then you will see a widget that indicates a thumbs up next to it.

Bernstein: iPhone 4S Will Not Have NFC

Independent research company Bernstein Research is reporting that the next generation iPhone will not mobile payment support through near field communication. Seagate GoFlex Satellite Mobile Wireless Storage Hard Drive Can Stream To iOS Devices

Seagate has announced a new 500GB wireless external hard drive that allows you to access movies and music on your iOS device through 802.11b/g/n WiFi capabilities. The hard drive has WPA security and a rechargeable battery. The GoFlex hard drive will be available in Best Buy stores this July, but it can be preordered now from Amazon.com, Best Buy, and Seagate.com. The hard drive depends on the GoFlex Media iOS application to access the files through the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. [PCW]
Netflix Signs On Miramax As Movie Partner

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) is adding Miramax movies to their collection of movies available for rent or streaming. This adds movies like Good Will Hunting, Pulp Fiction, The English Patient, and Shakespeare in Love to the collection. This is Miramax’s first major deal ever since Disney sold the studio to several investors for $660 million. Netflix is reportedly paying Miramax $100 million to stream their movies. [paidContent]
Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab Getting Gingerbread

Samsung Electronics is upgrading the 7-inch Galaxy Tab tablet to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Gingerbread will also be added to the Galaxy S, Galaxy Ace, Gio, Fit, and mini phones. Gingerbread will start being rolled out into the Galaxy S phones in the U.K. in the middle of this month. Then it will be spread to the rest of the countries afterwards. The most popular selling Amazon.com Kindle device is the one that has advertising and special offers built in that retails for $114. The $25 in savings that people get from the Kindle 6″ WiFi with E Ink Pearl technology makes a difference to people on whether they want a Kindle. Kim Kardashian’s Internet Apparel Company ShoeDazzle Raises $40 Million From Andreessen Horowitz, LightSpeed, and Polaris

ShoeDazzle is a subscription based e-commerce company that was founded by Brian Lee and Kim Kardashian. ShoeDazzle recently raised $40 million from several Silicon Valley investor companies that include Andreessen Horowitz, Polaris Venture Partners, and LightSpeed Venture Partners. Andreessen Horowitz led the round with $30 million and general partner John O’Farrell will join the ShoeDazzle board.

Analyst: Apple iPhone 4S Likely To Be On Sprint, T-Mobile, and China Mobile

According to Jefferies & Co. analyst Peter Misek, the Apple iPhone 5 is unlikely to have LTE functionality. Misek also said that the iPhone device that is expected to launch in September should be called the iPhone 4S. And if his sources are correct, Apple will announced that the iPhone 4S will be available on Sprint, T-Mobile, and China Mobile.

Google Adds News Near You Feature To Smartphone Devices

If you have an Android or an iOS device, Google has made a “News near you” feature available for you. The Google News website will display news that is relevant to you based on where you are geographically located at the time. Location-based news first arrived on the scene in 2008. To use the feature, visit http://news.google.com/ on your iOS or Android device. If it is your first time visiting the website, a pop-up will ask you if you want to share your location. Hit “yes” and you will start seeing a section called “News near you” at the bottom of the homepage. You can turn off the feature by hiding the section in your Google News personalization section. Yale University Puts Its Museum and Library Collections On The Internet

Ivy league school Yale University decided to archive their collections on the Internet by scanning content. Yale has announced that they have made their museum and library collections entirely available on the Internet. No licenses are required to access the content.
