LimeWire has agreed to pay music labels Sony Corp., Vivendi SA, Warner Music Group, and EMI Group $105 million to end a federal lawsuit over copyright infringement damages. U.S. District Judge Kamba Wood ruled that Lime Wire LLC had wrongfully assisted people into pirating digital recordings. “Lime Wire and its founder, Mark Gorton, are pleased that this case has concluded,” stated Lime Wire’s law firm Willkie, Farr & Gallagher. Earlier this week, Google revealed in a quarterly earnings report that they were given a $500 million charge that relates to a pending legal settlement with the Department of Justice. The report did not reveal what the charge was for, but now we know. The Wall Street Journal reveals that Google was charged for accepting “hundreds of millions” of dollars in ad revenue from online pharmacy companies that broke U.S. laws. Some of these pharmacies are based outside of the U.S.
