Do@ is a mobile search company that has raised $7 million from Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Do@ co-founder Ami Ben-David said that the current way of searching on mobile devices is too inconvenient since it involves typing words and scrolling to find a good link.

Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) has acquired comparison shopping website Sparkbuy. Sparkbuy’s website is focused on laptops. As a result of the acquisition, Sparkbuy.com will be shutting down and the three person team will be joining Google making this a pure deal an “acq-hire.” The Sparkbuy team will be working on Google Product Search.

CrowdStar is a social gaming company that has just raised $23 million in a first round of funding led by Intel Capital and Time Warner Investments. CrowdStar will be using the funding to hire additional talent and globally expand.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is selling Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” digital album for $0.99. The $0.99 gets you the 14 songs and a digital booklet. The same album is going for $11.99 at Apple iTunes. Amazon.com is subsidizing the cost in order to promote their cloud music locker. The promotional copy of the “Born This Way” album informs people that they can upgrade the 5GB of free storage the cloud locker storage offers to 20GB. [AllThingsD]

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Steve Ballmer said that there will 500 new features on the Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 operating system at the Microsoft Developers Forum 2011. Windows Phone 7.5 has the code-name Mango, which is the software that Nokia plans on using on their smartphones.

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) European head Eric Cador has high hopes for the HP TouchPad tablet. While at a press conference at Cannes, Cador said “in the PC world, with fewer ways of differentiating HP’s products from our competitors, we became number one; in the tablet world we’re going to become better than number one. We call it number one plus.” That means the TouchPad would have to beat the Apple iPad. The TouchPad uses the WebOS operating system. [Telegraph UK]

Earlier this month I wrote about how Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is getting involved with Lodsys’ patent infringement case against Apple App Store developers that have in-app purchases built into their applications. Lodsys filed a lawsuit against about a dozen iOS developers that are allegedly infringing on the 10/732,102 patent. Below is a letter that Apple sent to Lodsys:

Square is a mobile payments startup company that has shipped about 500,000 card readers. Square reported about 1 million transactions in May and the company is processing about $3 million in mobile payments per day. Square has announced a new service today called Square Register.
