The hacker group Anonymous has attacked the website of the police force in Spain. The hack attack took place out of retaliation to the police arresting three Spanish individuals believed to be “core” members of the hacker group.

The website policia.es was taken down for about an hour. The Spanish police did not officially confirm that Anonymous was behind the attack. But Anonymous wrote on Twitter that they were responsible for it and they used the hashtag #OpPolicia. Anonymous used a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS). Anonymous claimed that the Spanish police did not arrest a core group of the hackers because they do not “have a core group.”
