Amazon.com Launching A Tablet In October
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is planning to launch a tablet device this October. This device would be in direct competition with the Apple iPad. As of this past March, Apple has sold 19.5 million iPads so Amazon.com faces an uphill battle.
Amazon.com currently has an Android application store and they are facing a lawsuit from Apple due to the trademark use of the words “App Store.” Amazon’s Android application store is called the Amazon Appstore and Apple’s application store is called the Apple App Store.
This year Amazon.com also plans to release two new versions of the Kindle e-book reader devices. One of these Kindle upgrades will have a touch screen.
