Apple Announces New Line Of MacBook Airs

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has announced a new line of MacBook Air laptops. The new line of MacBook Airs have a new generation of processors, Thunderbolt I/O technology, flash storage, backlit keyboard, and the Mac OS X Lion operating system. The new MacBook Air starts at $999 and is available for order today.
“Portable, affordable and powerful, MacBook Air is the ultimate everyday notebook,” stated Apple SVP of Worldwide Product Marketing Philip Schiller. “MacBook Air features our most advanced technology and is an ideal match for Lion, especially with its new Multi-Touch gestures, full-screen apps, Mission Control and Mac App Store.”
The MacBook Air is available in 11 and 13-inch models. The Air measures at 0.11 at it’s thinnest point and 0.68 inches at it’s thickest. The 11-inch MacBook Air weighs 2.38 pounds and has 5 hours of battery life. The 13-inch MacBook Air weighs 2.96 pounds and has 7 hours of battery life.
The trackpad of the new MacBook Air laptops support Multi-Touch. The multi-touch trackpad allows scrolling, tapping, pinching-to-zoom, and swiping left/right to turn pages and switch between full screen apps.
